Upgrading from SharePoint 2007

The extent to which the wikis in SharePoint 2007 can be transported to SharePoint 2010 depends a great deal on the general migration strategy and which tools are being used. This is because these decisions will of course define how data is moved from one platform to the other, but there are nonetheless a few points to note, regardless of which method/tools you are using:

SharePoint will not allow SharePoint 2007 content to be copied into the Enterprise Wiki on 2010 because this is based on a different technology. However, migrating from page libraries in 2007 to page libraries in 2010 should work fine (depending on the migration strategy and tools used, and we can of course make no guarantees here).

Some of the features in the BlueBridge Wiki Extensions use JavaScript, which you should bear in mind when migrating to SharePoint 2010. Features such as the table of contents, lightbox and zoom will only work on SharePoint 2010 if the BlueBridge Wiki Extensions for SharePoint 2010 have been installed.

There is a possibility that some content will be displayed slightly differently on SharePoint 2010. This is due to the fact that a different editor is being used, which may render certain HTML tags in a different way. There is always a risk of this when moving from one editor to another and is of course one of the reasons that Microsoft allows you to update the user interface separately. Unfortunately, we are therefore not able to guarantee that content will be displayed in the same way after migration, regardless of whether you are upgrading from the standard editor or the BlueBridge editor in 2007. Having said that, we do not expect there to be drastic differences.
